Laurent Dauphin’s picture Andre Ouellet

The small native repentant of Repentigny made a boom last year in the Midget AAA while he was wearing the colors of the Phoenix of Esther-Blondin College. Dauphin transposed his dominance in the regular season until the playoffs by collecting 26 points in just 13 games. The new number 27 of the Sags even won the trophy of the most useful player during the Telus Cup.
Well installed on one of the first two units in the Saguenéens, Dauphin has so far collected six points in five games.

Strengths :
A priori, we recognize Laurent Dauphin for his vision of the game and his ease to stand out when he does not have the puck. Always well placed, he is at all times responsible in the defensive zone.
The best players have the quality to know their role and not to invent one. Dolphin is not a gaming manufacturer and he knows it. He merely races to the net and takes the throw when given the opportunity.
To work :

It is obvious that physical play is not the primary quality of Dauphin, even though it is his main weakness. When the game intensifies, Dauphin tends to disappear. The fact that he is in his early footsteps in junior hockey may explain this gap and he will likely adjust over the course of the season.
The fear of some recruiters with whom I discussed is to see the young striker get hit very solidly. According to them, Dauphin could have difficulty in feeling so comfortable afterwards. He will therefore have to learn to become a little less predictable along the ramps.

Obviously, his skating will also work. His inability to explode convincingly could scare some recruiters.

To come up :
At the time of writing, Dauphin is not ranked very high by the Central of recruitment, but could win a few steps by the end of the season.
If Charles Hudon was a 5th round pick, I do not see how Dauphin could be selected in the first four rounds.
